Bridge 2 Bridge Ride Across America Raises Money for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation with Nationwide Bike Ride
We recently had the honor of meeting Randy Boudouris and wanted to share his amazing story with you. Randy rode his bike from San Francisco to New York City between May and July 2007 in order to raise money for a cure to Cystic Fibrosis on behalf of his daughter, Barbara, who was diagnosed with CF in 2004.
Randy's explanation of the reason for the ride on the website for Bridge 2 Bridge expresses the way we feel about the work we do here at Amy's Ride, too:
Parents of a child who suffers from an incurable illness understand the helplessness they feel as they watch that child struggle on a daily basis. Sitting around waiting for someone else to create change is not something I am capable of. It takes the vision, commitment, dedication, and fortitude of many to move mountains. You might say this is my shovelful of dirt!
We strongly encourage you to provide your own shovelful by supporting Randy's ride at his website. Make a donation to Bridge 2 Bridge Ride Across America for CF.
Due to the tremendous success of the ride, Randy plans to make the trek again in 2010. Good luck, Randy!

Robert Gore Raises $2,000 for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation with 50-Mile Run in Amy's Name
When Amy Miller was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis just a few short years ago, Robert Gore was deeply affected. He has a daughter of his own just a few years younger than Amy, named Shannon, and says, "When I heard about Amy's story, it made me so grateful for my health and the health of my girls. However, you never know when your good health or that of a loved one will change, like Amy's."
Thus, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation was an easy choice when he decided to raise money for charity by running the JFK 50-Mile Race in November 2005 . This race, held annually in Hagerstown, Maryland, begins with 16 miles on the Appalachian Trail, followed by 26 miles along the C&O Tow-Path next to the Potomac River, and eight miles along scenic country roads. Though he has been an avid runner for some time, Robert had never run a 50-mile race before this event. With vigorous training on the weekends, he finished exactly as he had expected -- in a little over 12 hours.
Though Amy could not be there for the race, she was there in spirit. Robert was wearing a bracelet she'd given him as encouragement for the run.
Thank you, Robert, for your support for a cure! |
